For School Nurses |

Public School nurses are the single. best referral source to this program. More than 2,000 strong, your caring and compassionate nature fosters a natural fit for the GKAS program. Some county school nurses associations have had the GKAS program come to your meetings to give an overview of the program and introduce you, face-to-face, to dental practitioners in your communities that are willing to serve as year-round resources for you. If our program has not yet presented to your county association, please do not hesitate to reach out to us and schedule a date. Contact Eric Elmore at 732-821-9400 or via email at gkas@njda.org. Specifically, how school nurses can help is by identifying the children, ages 12 and below, that are in need (financially disadvantaged children with dental issues) and referring them to the program. Our goal is to get these children out of pain and on the path to a healthier smile. For large groups of children, consider securing a school bus and making a field trip out of GKAS day. It’s a wonderful way to ensure an educational experience along with helping children receive the dental care they need. Below are a series of resources you will need to help parents take part in the program: **Please note that all children must make appointments at GKAS locations in order to be seen. Once made, these appointments are important to be kept as abandoned appointments keep other children in need from receiving dental services. · Program Overview — English Spanish · Consent Form - English Spanish · Sample Letter to Send Home with Children · Participating NJ Locations — Available Now · Frequently Asked Questions — FAQs · Explanation of GKAS Services Provided · Post-GKAS, Year-Round, Low– or No-Cost Dental Services · Information on National GKAS program |
