coding corner

April 9, 2018

The 2018 CDT Code contains 18 new codes. Three new codes were added for implant services. D6118, D6119 and D6096.

D6118 Implant/abutment supported interim fixed denture for edentulous arch-mandibular  and D6119 Implant/abutment supported interim fixed denture for edentulous arch – maxillary  should be used when a period of healing is necessary prior to fabrication and placement of a permanent prosthetic.

The third code, D6096 Remove broken implant retaining screw should be used to help you to document and report the service provided. The existence of the code does not mean the procedure is considered the “standard of care” or that it is covered or reimbursed by a dental benefit plan.
