This course will host a review of infectious diseases of concern to dentists and staff to include TB, bacterial infections, fungal diseases, viral diseases including HIV, Hepatitis (esp. C), influenza and COVID-19. The history and evolution of protection from disease transmission in health care settings, especially dental offices.
Infectious disease updates for the dental team will include Cochrane Analysis of PPE in healthcare 2020, Management of infection and antibiotic stewardship and the ADA recommendations for prevention of disease transmission in 2021

Hilly Ephros is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and St. George’s University School of Medicine. He is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who chairs the Department of Dentistry/OMS at St. Joseph’s Health where he also directs the OMS residency program and serves as Medical Director of the Regional Craniofacial Center. He was an examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from 2004-2009.
