The New Jersey State Board of Dentistry published a notice that two new licensure requirements will need to be completed for this year's state dental license renewal on November 1, 2021:

  • Two hours of continuing education in preventing and controlling Infectious Diseases and managing personnel health and safety concerns related to infection control in dental settings.
  • One hour of continuing education in educational programs or topics concerning prescription Opioid Drugs.

The federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was established to set national standards regarding protected health information.

  • Any dentist who comes into contact with protected health information (PHI) should receive HIPAA training.  HIPAA doesn’t specify a particular length for training.  NJDA’s HIPAA training covers PRIVACY, SECURITY AND BREACH.

The NJDA has developed this VIRTUAL Licensure Requirement Series running from May through September. The following courses will be offered three times each to accommodate any schedule.
