
Course: Ethics: Truth or Consequences
Course Description:
The course is designed for dental hygienists, dental assistants and administrative staff. It will enhance their knowledge of dental ethics, patient confidentiality and potential signs of child abuse. Attendees will understand what may constitute an ethics violation and how to reduce the chances of adverse findings if audited. Examples of ethical dilemmas will be discussed as well as past history of violations and imposed penalties. The lecture will focus on professionalism, competence, fairness, integrity, responsibility, respect and service.
Learning Objectives:
- The course will increase knowledge in dental ethics, professionalism, NJ Jurisprudence, abuse of prescriptions by patients, child abuse, competence , judgement and patient confidentiality.
Speaker: Sidney Whitman, DMD
Speaker Bio: Dr. Whitman is a graduate of Rutgers University, NYU College of Dentistry and the Temple University Pediatric Dentistry Program. He completed a GPR program at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Whitman is the former managing partner of a large multi-specialty practice. He is the Director of Pediatric Dentistry and Chair of the Residency Selection Committee at NBIMC, Chair of the NJOHC, Chair of the ADA MPAC, Chair of NJ Committee on Medicaid. He is the President of DLN and lectures throughout the country on behalf of the ADA.
