The New Jersey Dental Association is the voice of the dental profession and a strong proponent of oral health in the state. Members are part of a vibrant community of dentists encompassing 12 local dental societies as well as the American Dental Association. Lunch Sessions: "Infection Control Update for the State of New Jersey"

Course Description:
Dental hygienists and assistants in the State of New Jersey are now required to complete at least one hour of required continuing education in the area of infection control for license renewal per the New Jersey State Board of Dentistry. This webinar will highlight requirements under this administrative ruling to include CDC infection control guidelines, modes of disease transmission, and strategies to ensure a safe dental visit for dental personnel and patients.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe modes of disease transmission and the chain of infection
  • Discuss strategies to prevent occupational exposures to blood and bodily fluids.
  • Discuss methods to ensure that patient-care items and environmental surfaces are safe for use.
  • Identify criteria for selection and use of safe dental devices.
  • Discuss methods to provide safe dental unit water and how to monitor water quality.
  • Identify strategies to evaluate YOUR dental infection control program.
