What is Give Kids A Smile?

The Give Kids A Smile® (GKAS) program, launched nationally in 2003, provides underserved children with free oral health care. Each year approximately 6,500 dentists and 30,000 dental team members volunteer at local GKAS events to provide free oral health education, screenings, preventive and restorative treatment to over 300,000 children.

FAQs for Dental Professionals

I am interested in offering free dental exams and treatment during GKAS month. Where do I start?

Please use the links above to register with the ADA.

Will I receive supplies just for being a participating location?

You must register before the ADA Foundation deadline in order to be included in the supply lottery. Supplies are not guaranteed.

I am a foreign-trained dentist. Can I volunteer?

No, GKAS NJ can only place volunteer dentists who are licensed in the state of NJ.

I am not a dental professional. Can I volunteer?

If you are an office manager and your office participates in GKAS, you can volunteer in your own office. We do not place non-dental volunteers at this time.

I am a dental professional and would like to find a location to volunteer at.

Dentists, hygienists and assistants who are licensed to practice in the state of NJ are welcome to volunteer at one of the larger locations around the state. Please complete the volunteer form HERE. If you have any questions please email gkas@njda.org.

I am a dental student or pre-dental/pre-med student.

GKAS NJ does not have a volunteer program specifically intended for undergrad college students. Please email gkas@njda.org for more information.
