
The New Jersey Dental Association and Bank of America are again offering a complete meeting package in 2020. Bank of America provides our members the highest level of service while providing significant non-dues revenue which helps to keep down our member dues. In a continued effort to make our members aware of these services we have customized a packaged program just for our components.
In 2020 NJDA will support a component meeting of your choice (based on availability). NJDA will offer one of two (one or two credit state board approved) courses for the meeting

DENTAL ADVOCACY: ADVANCING A PROFESSION, NOT A POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY Jim Schulz
Course Description:
The course objective is to educate dentists and other dental professionals on the state and federal governmental and regulatory process. In doing so, attendees will learn the differences between statutory law, regulatory law and the implications of each. Attendees will learn the differences between lobbying, grassroots advocacy, and political action.
Learning Objectives:
A clear understanding of the governmental process, political action, state and federal legislative and regulatory issues germane to public health policy, oral health policy and dentistry.

Speaker Bio:
For more than 20 years, Jim Schulz has been involved in state and federal government and politics, having held key staff positions in the US Congress, NJ legislative and executive branches as well as numerous political campaigns. He presently serves on several non-profit and governmental boards and commissions.

DENTAL OFFICE SAFETY AND EMPLOYMENT LAW Art Meisel, Esq.
Course Description:
This program will address a range of subjects with respect to employment that commonly are arising in typical-sized dental offices pertaining to working conditions, safety and liability concerns, terms and termination of employment, benefit entitlements and other issues.
Learning Objectives:
An enhanced basic understanding of the laws and regulations regarding employment.
Speaker: Art Meisel, Esq., Executive Director
Speaker Bio:
Arthur Meisel was engaged as Executive Director of the New Jersey Dental Association in January 2000 and served as its General Counsel since January 1995. Prior to that time, he continuously represented the Association as its outside legal counsel since 1972. His law practice focused upon civil litigation with emphasis in health care, antitrust, insurance, employment and business-related trials, appeals, arbitrations and administrative proceedings. Mr. Meisel received his law degree at New York University School of Law, where he was awarded the Seymour A. Levy Memorial Award in recognition of academic and professional accomplishment. After attending law school, he also earned a Master of Arts degree in the History of Religions.
He is an honorary member of the New Jersey Dental Association and the Fauchard Dental Society of New Jersey, an Honorary Fellow of the American College of Dentists and a recipient of a Distinguished Service Award from the New Jersey Dental Association and the Gerald A. Devlin Award from the New Jersey Association of Orthodontists. In 2019, he was honored to receive the Dr. Thordore V. Symanski Lifetime Achievement Award from the New Jersey Dental Association.

NJDA will reimburse the components $1,000 from the royalties it receives from Bank of America if the component society partners with the NJDA in extending exclusivity to the bank in their offering of practice acquisition and start-up financing.
The $1,000 revenue sharing is available if:
- You welcome Bank of America as a sponsor and provide a sponsor table at your meeting.
- No other banks lecture or sponsor at the meeting at which Bank of America is present, AND
- No other bank which attends and/or lectures at any other component meetings can offer, discuss or present information, including brochures, about practice acquisition or start-up financing during the meeting.
