Course Description: The course will cover some basic information on how to submit, appeal and trouble shoot dental benefits claim submissions. We will review some coding tips, clinical and administrative policy and NJ law as it applies to the claim process.

Course Objectives: Understand a clean claim and insurance carriers responsibility to process timely. Learn how to trouble shoot denials and additional supporting documentation requests. Understand why accurate coding and supporting documentation is crucial to your success.

10:45 am - 11:45 am | SESSION 2: Surviving and Thriving in the Medicaid Dental World

1 CEU (Pending State Board Review)

Course Description: This seminar will review the history of Medicaid in NJ, the various Federal and N.J. State rules that govern dental Medicaid in NJ. A review of the differences between Commercial vs. Medicaid payer plans. Important aspects of documentation. An introduction to a lean six sigma philosophy to enable providers to be profitable in a reduced Medicaid fee environment, that consists of integrated pillars that includes developing high efficiency practices, minimizing waste, risk management, employee & patient satisfaction.

Course Objectives: Attendees will gain knowledge and learn about: 1. Various State, Federal, & HMO Contractual mandates that govern the delivery of Medicaid Dental Care. 2. EPSDT standards for Children and the limitations of adult dentistry vs. children's dentistry. 3. Gaining insight to various business models that are adaptable to providing dental care to Medicaid recipients.

Course Description: Dental coding does not have to be a mystery when submitting claims. Understanding how the code is developed, do’s and don’ts when submitting dental claims, and key descriptors can help you obtain reimbursement in a more efficient way. This course will also take you through different scenarios to help you better understand how to utilize the dental code. Other topics will include learning when to apply non-covered benefit clauses, how to deal with insurance industry tricks and give you a better understanding on how to manage dental benefits in your practice, including a review of membership plans.

Course Objectives: Learn how to differentiate between self-funded and fully-funded insurance plans. Improve your understanding of the dental code. Review key scenarios when applying the dental code. Learn about alternative benefits for your patients
