Let's meet another outstanding member of the inaugural class of NJDA Member Recognition Award Recipients. The next member-dentist we’re spotlighting is Dr. Mario Canal from the Southern Dental Society.

With over 35 years of experience in the field of periodontics, Dr. Mario Canal has established himself as a respected leader in the dental community. Based in Moorestown, NJ, Dr. Canal graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1988 and has since dedicated his career to both clinical excellence and professional service.

Dr. Canal’s commitment to organized dentistry is evident through his long-standing involvement with the NJDA and its local components. A lifelong NJDA member, he has played an active role in shaping the future of the Southern Dental Society of New Jersey. Serving as its President in 2006 and as Treasurer until 2022, he has contributed significantly to the society’s leadership and financial stewardship. His tenure on the executive committee for over two decades has helped guide and mentor many current and past presidents, ensuring a strong foundation for the organization’s future.

Beyond his administrative contributions, Dr. Canal is widely regarded for his kindness, professionalism, and willingness to mentor new dentists. He is always available to offer guidance and support to those entering the field, embodying the values of mentorship and service that define a true leader. His dedication to both his patients and his colleagues has made a lasting impact on New Jersey dentistry and is an inspiration to the next generation of dental professionals.
