Dr. Amit Vora Installed as NJDA's First Indian-American President

Dr. Amit Vora, a periodontist in Edison, NJ, was installed as the 156th President of the New Jersey Dental Association on Friday, May 16.

Dr. Amit Vora, a periodontist in Edison, NJ, was installed as the 156th President of the New Jersey Dental Association at the Annual House of Delegates Meeting on Friday, May 16.  Dr. Vora is the Association's first Indian-American and first foreign trained dentist to serve as NJDA President.

Joining Dr. Vora as NJDA Officers for the 2025-26 term are President-Elect Dr. Antoinette Tauk, Dr. Andrew Dietz (Vice President), Dr. Maria Ambrosio (Treasurer), Dr. Janhavi Rane (Secretary), Dr. Ed Tirpack (Speaker of the House) and Dr. Harvey Nisselson (Editor).

Dr. Vora first joined organized dentistry as a student in New York in 1999 and became a New Jersey Dental Association member in 2002. Since then, he has held numerous leadership positions including serving on NJDA’s Council on Government Affairs, the New Jersey Dental Political Action Committee, and as President of the Middlesex County Dental Society (an NJDA component society). 

In addition, Dr. Vora is a past president of the NJ Society of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry and is a Director on the Board of the Northeastern Society of Periodontists. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. 

Dr. Vora was born and raised in Bombay, India. After completing his dental degree and specializing in periodontics in India, he moved to the United States and completed his doctorate from the Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery (now called Columbia University College of Dental Medicine ) in 1999 and completed his Peridontology residency in 2005 from the Manhattan VA Medical Center.

Dr. Vora owns and operates a periodontal practice in Middlesex County and is the Chair of Dental Department at JFK Medical Center in Edison, part of Hackensack Meridian Health. He lives in Scotch Plains, NJ with his family.  When not serving organized dentistry, he can be found lecturing internationally, and doing crossword and sudoku puzzles. His latest achievement was hiking Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania!
