2025 NJDA Member Recognition Awards: Each month we highlight a different recipient to publicly thank them and share their story with all NJDA members.

Let's meet another outstanding member of the 2025 class of NJDA Member Recognition Award Recipients. The next member-dentist we’re spotlighting is Dr. Ira Rosen from Middlesex County Dental Society.

Dr. Rosen’s path to dentistry was marked by academic excellence and a passion for patient care. He began his undergraduate studies at Cornell University, where he initially majored in Mathematics before earning a B.A. in Biology in 1979. He went on to receive his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, followed by a specialty certificate in Prosthodontics from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1987.

In March 1988, Dr. Rosen opened his private practice limited to prosthodontics, which recently celebrated its 37th anniversary. He continues to practice full time alongside his associate, Dr. Shari Ginsburg, serving patients with the same enthusiasm and dedication that has defined his career from the start.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Rosen has served as an educator for 36 years at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. He is currently the Chief of Prosthodontics at RWJBH, where he leads both the Prosthodontic Seminars and the Treatment Planning Seminars for the hospital’s General Practice Residency program.

For the past 34 years, Dr. Rosen has been a vital part of the Middlesex County Dental Society. A past president (1999–2000), he remains an integral member of the executive board, currently serving as chair of both the Budget and Finance Committee and the Corporate Sponsorship Committee. His tireless volunteerism and unwavering mentorship have helped shape the success and direction of MCDS over the years.

His wife of 42 years, Dr. Karen Knopf Rosen, is a fellow dental professional and trusted colleague. Their daughter, Dr. Hillary Khodari, is a pediatric dentist and proud member of the NJDA, practicing at KidzDent in Old Bridge, NJ. Reflecting on his professional journey, Dr. Rosen shared, “While I have been very fortunate to enjoy practicing Prosthodontics for so many years and being able to give back to our profession via teaching and serving the dental society, my greatest pleasure comes from spending time with my incredible family and my good friends.”
