2025 NJDA Member Recognition Awards: Each month we highlight a different recipient to publicly thank them and share their story with all NJDA members.
Let's meet another outstanding member of the 2025 class of NJDA Member Recognition Award Recipients. The next member-dentist we’re spotlighting is Dr. Paul Lawyer from Southern Dental Society.

Dr. Paul Lawyer’s journey into dentistry began in Mercer County, New Jersey, where he was raised with a strong sense of community and service. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Albright College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), where he received his DMD as a member of the Class of 1994.
Following dental school, Dr. Lawyer completed a General Practice Residency at West Jersey Health System from 1994 to 1995, further honing his clinical skills and deepening his dedication to comprehensive patient care. In 1995, he entered private practice at Atco Family Dentistry, where he has provided general dental care to his community for over 30 years. His long-standing practice is a testament to his commitment to quality dentistry and the trusting relationships he has built with generations of patients.

Beyond the operatory, Dr. Lawyer has been a steadfast advocate for organized dentistry. A dedicated member of the Southern Dental Society for decades, he has served in numerous leadership roles including Past President, NJDA Trustee, and Alternate Trustee. His contributions also extend to the state level, where he has served as a NJDA Delegate, participated on the Council on Dental Benefit Programs, and chaired the Continuing Education Committee. Most recently, he played a key role in the NJDA CEO Search Committee, helping shape the future leadership of the organization.

Colleagues describe Dr. Lawyer as someone who brings not only professionalism but also deeply rooted family values to every aspect of his work. His loyalty, mentorship, and tireless service have left a lasting impact on the Southern Dental Society and the broader dental community.
