Celebrating Our Community Through Diversity
Dear Colleagues,
As your NJDA President, I’m proud to lead an organization that reflects the diversity of our profession and the patients we serve. This year, the NJDA Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee is hosting a Diwali celebration — the first in what we hope will become a series of events recognizing the many cultures and traditions that make up our membership.
Diwali, known as the Festival of Lights, is a celebration of hope, renewal, and the triumph of light over darkness — values that resonate across all backgrounds. I am honored that NJDA is marking this occasion during my presidency, not just as a recognition of my Indian-American heritage, but as an opportunity for members to come together in friendship and understanding.
Participation in this event is entirely optional, and no member dues are being used to support it. The event is funded exclusively through registration fees from those who choose to attend as well as event sponsors.
This initiative supports the goals outlined in NJDA’s Strategic Plan, particularly our commitment to organizational sustainability and relevancy — ensuring that every member feels connected to their professional association and that NJDA continues to represent the full breadth of New Jersey’s dental community.
Our intent is simple — to celebrate and learn from one another. Future DEI Committee events will honor other cultures and experiences within our dental community, ensuring that everyone sees themselves reflected in our shared professional home.
Thank you for your continued engagement and for helping to make NJDA a community that values every member’s contribution to our profession and our state.
Warm regards,
Amit Vora, DDS
President, New Jersey Dental Association
