Let's meet another outstanding NJDA Member Recognition Award Recipient. The next member-dentist we’re spotlighting is Dr. Joseph Basilicato from Passaic County Dental Society.

Dr. Joseph Basilicato’s journey into dentistry began with a strong commitment to academic excellence and compassionate patient care. As an undergraduate at Villanova University in Pennsylvania, he was accepted into the highly competitive Pre-Professional Honors Program—an integrated curriculum that combined undergraduate studies with a graduate dental education. This rigorous pathway led him to the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2003.

Following dental school, Dr. Basilicato pursued advanced specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. During his residency, he distinguished himself as Chief Resident in his senior year, demonstrating leadership, clinical skill, and a deep dedication to the well-being of his young patients. Upon completion of his program in 2005, he received his Specialty Certification in Pedodontics and began his professional career in private practice.

Since 2005, Dr. Basilicato has provided the highest level of pediatric dental care, earning the trust of families through his gentle approach and commitment to excellence. His philosophy centers on creating positive dental experiences for children while promoting lifelong oral health—a commitment that has guided his two decades of service to his community.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Basilicato has been an active and dedicated leader within organized dentistry. He is a proud member of the Passaic County Dental Society, as well as the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Within PCDS, he has served with distinction on the Board and held the office of President twice, reflecting his peers’ confidence in his leadership and vision.

At the state level, Dr. Basilicato has been deeply involved with the NJDA Council on Annual Session, contributing for over eight years, including service as the immediate past Council Chair. His guidance has helped shape meaningful professional development opportunities and continuing education for dental professionals across New Jersey.
