Oct 5, 2026
Throughout the 2026–2027 component year, NJDA is proud to recognize this year’s NJDA Member Recognition Award recipients during Leadership Tour visits across the state. These awards celebrate member-dentists whose leadership, service, and dedication have made a meaningful impact on their local dental societies, NJDA, and the profession.

Next in this year’s spotlight series is Dr. Vincent Castellano of the Essex County Dental Society.

Dr. Vincent Castellano has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to organized dentistry through decades of leadership, service, mentorship, and dedication to both the profession and his community.

A longtime member of the Essex County Dental Society, Dr. Castellano has served on its board for more than 45 years and has contributed to numerous committees throughout his career. He is a Past President of both the Essex County Dental Society and its Foundation and has been actively involved with numerous NJDA councils and committees. He currently serves as Chair of the Credentials Committee of the NJDA House of Delegates. His leadership has also included serving as President of the Fauchard Dental Society, the Bloomfield Health Careers Foundation, and the New Jersey Dental School Alumni Association.

Dr. Castellano has also dedicated significant time to mentoring and educating future generations of dental professionals. He has worked with high school students through the Bloomfield Health Careers Foundation and has served as a volunteer visiting lecturer in the departments of Oral Diagnosis and Hospital and Community Dentistry at the New Jersey Dental School. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists and, in 2024, received the NJDA President’s Special Recognition Award for his leadership and dedication to advancing organized dentistry and membership.

A graduate of UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School, now Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Castellano built a dental career spanning more than four decades in Bloomfield, providing compassionate care to generations of patients while remaining deeply involved in his profession. Throughout his career, he has been a strong advocate for organized dentistry, professional ethics, mentorship, and the patient-dentist relationship. His many years of leadership and service, along with the friendships and professional relationships he has built along the way, have made a lasting impact on the Essex County Dental Society, NJDA, and the broader dental community.
