Dr. Maxine Vu Recognized By Tri-County Dental Society

Oct 28, 2026
Throughout the 2026–2027 component year, NJDA is proud to recognize this year’s NJDA Member Recognition Award recipients.

Next in this year’s spotlight series is Dr. Maxine Vu of the Tri-County Dental Society.

Dr. Vu has been an active and enthusiastic supporter of organized dentistry for more than two decades, maintaining involvement with the ADA, NJDA, and Tri-County Dental Society since 2000. A consistent presence at component meetings, she is known for bringing an infectious enthusiasm for organized dentistry and encouraging greater connection among her colleagues. She was also recently appointed President-Elect of the Tri-County Dental Society, a reflection of the respect she has earned among her peers and her ongoing commitment to the component.

That commitment to strengthening the component experience has led Dr. Vu to champion opportunities for members to briefly share lessons, experiences, and common concerns during Tri-County meetings. By creating more opportunities for interaction and conversation, she has helped foster the camaraderie and professional collaboration that are at the heart of organized dentistry.

Dr. Vu’s path to dentistry began after arriving in the United States as a refugee from Vietnam with her mother and two older siblings in 1982. A dedicated student, she graduated high school a year early as Salutatorian and earned a full academic scholarship to the University of Virginia, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with a minor in Anthropology in 1995. She went on to graduate from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in 1999 before completing a General Practice Residency at Morristown Memorial Hospital.

In 2006, Dr. Vu purchased her solo dental practice in Denville, where she has spent the past 20 years providing compassionate, high-quality care and building lasting relationships with generations of patients. Her 20th anniversary as a practice owner was celebrated in June 2026 alongside patients, colleagues, family, friends, and members of the community.

Beyond her practice, Dr. Vu is a strong advocate for lifelong learning, professional wellness, mental health, and mentorship. She regularly supports young dentists entering the profession and welcomes high school students interested in healthcare to shadow at her office. Her passion for dentistry has also extended to the next generation of her own family, with her daughter Bridget currently attending Columbia University College of Dental Medicine as a freshman.

Known for her sincerity, optimism, generosity, and sense of humor, Dr. Vu has positively impacted countless patients, colleagues, students, and community members. Through her leadership, service, and commitment to bringing colleagues together, she has made a meaningful impact on Tri-County Dental Society and the broader dental community.
